Popular singer Zubeen Garg, who had collapsed during a programme in Guwahati on February 28 evening, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is in a stable condition.

Garg suddenly fell unconscious at a programme on Friday evening and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Guwahati.

He has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital since then and is being monitored by a team of doctors.

Dr Hitesh Deka, CMD of the hospital, on February 29 said that Zubeen Garg is currently in a stable condition and is being kept for some routine tests.

Fans of the singer thronged the hospital since February 28 night, with top dignitaries also making a beeline to enquire about Garg’s wellbeing.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on February 29 visited the hospital and enquired about Garg’s heath condition.

Sonowal, who returned from New Delhi on February 29, directly went to the hospital from the airport, and enquired about the singer’s health and talked to the in-charge doctors.

Several others, including Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, MoS for Health Pijush Hazarika and Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Debabrata Saikia, also called on Garg.

On Facebook, Zubeen’s wife Garima Saikia Garg said that he is stable and needed proper rest. “Zubeen is quite stable and he needs proper rest. Thank you everyone for your immense love, prayer and good wishes. Since I am inside the ICU, I am not being able to receive those hundreds of calls that have been coming to know about Zubeen’s health and to wish for his recovery! And I request you all not to try him through messages and calls on his mobile. He seriously needs rest!! My sincere gratitude to all of you again…,” she wrote on Facebook.
