A 50-year-old man from Mizoram was tested positive of coronavirus on March 25. This is the second case in the Northeast.

After the first test was done in Mizoram, a second sample was brought to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The second sample also tested positive on March 25 morning.

Superintendent of GMCH, Ramen Talukdar confirmed that the test turned to be positive.

According to information received, the affected person has a travel history to several countries recently. He is believed to have travelled to Qatar, Amsterdam, Istanbul and Doha among others recently.

However, there is no official confirmation as yet. This is the second coronavirus positive case in the Northeast during 24 hours. Manipur has recorded the first confirmed novel coronavirus case on March 24.

A 23-year-old from Imphal (west) has been identified as the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in the State. With a travel history to the UK, the person is being treated at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (JNIMS).
