With the Assam government converting its sports complexes into COVID 19 quarantine facilities, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) on March 26 offered its Barsapara stadium for such purpose.
ACA president Romen Dutta and secretary Devajit Saikia, in a statement, said, “On behalf of the state cricket body, we have decided to offer the Assam Cricket Association Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati, and its premises to Government of Assam for establishing temporary hospital and quarantine centreā.
They further assured that the ACA will provide every possible support to the state government to fight the pandemic.
The state health department is building a 1000-bedded quarantine facility at Sarusajai sports complex in Guwahati, and is contemplating constructing another such facility at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.
