The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has resolved to intensify and strengthen the movement for statehood demand and decided to form Eastern Nagaland Youth Front (ENYF) to intensify the agitation.

According to an ENPO release, the ENPO Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting held at the Konyak Union Conference Hall in Mon town, the district headquarters on March 10 has adopted two-point resolution with regard to separate state demand and Naga political issue.

On the matter relating to the demand for a separate state for Eastern Nagaland, ENPO stated that since there has been no indication of any interest by the central government and consequent upon the “lackadaisical treatment,” the CEC meeting resolved that people of Eastern Nagaland would “not extend public co-operation in any national red-letter event henceforth.”

The CEC meeting also decided to intensify and strengthen the movement for statehood demand by forming the Eastern Nagaland Youth Front.

The ENPO has reiterated its full support and cooperation for an early peaceful and long lasting solution of the Naga political issue, the ENPO – CEC meeting also resolved that, any solution which may appear to be detrimental to the peace and unity of the people of Eastern Nagaland shall be opposed, the release said.
