Former England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen is in Assam to shoot a feature on the world famous one-horned rhinoceros of the state.

The former cricketer on March 3 met Assam Forests and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidiya in this regard. He was accompanied by a team of professional video filmmakers from Australia.

The whole team led by Pietersen landed in Assam to make a short feature film on the world famous one-horned rhinos of Kaziranga National Park. Pietersen has also expressed his willingness to take part in the opening ceremony of Kaziranga Utsav on March 11 at Kohra in Kaziranga.

On interacting with the former player of England, Suklabaidiya expressed his gratitude for his endeavour for the conservation of rhinos worldwide. The minister also thanked him for giving special emphasis for highlighting and raising awareness for the one-horned rhinos of Kaziranga National Park.

Pietersen also congratulated Suklabaidya for bringing down the figures of rhino poaching across the state to zero in the recent times.

Giving a brief overview about the natural flora and fauna of Assam, the minister suggested some key spots for visit viz. Manas National Park, Pobitora Wildlife Santuary, etc. to the rhino conservationist.
