Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly

The Budget session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, that begins in Itanagar on March 2, is all set to go ‘paperless’ under the e-Vidhan project, thereby doing away with the decades-old practice of providing hard copies of written replies, reports, bills and other documents to its members.

In a tweet, Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona said, “All set to go ‘paperless’! The fourth session of the 7th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will take place on e-Vidhan platform. Did some familiarisation of new technology along with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte.”

Mein, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is likely to present the Budget estimates for the fiscal year 2020-21 on Wednesday. “E-assembly is a great initiative to facilitate the work of assembly. It enables automation of entire law making process, tracking of decisions and documents, sharing of information,” Mein tweeted.

Lauding speaker and deputy speaker, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, “Congratulations Honble Speaker PD Sona ji and Dy Speaker Tesam Pongte ji for the initiative towards ‘Digital India’. Looking forward to experience the innovation from upcoming Budget Session w.e.f. 2nd March.”

Meanwhile, Khandu chaired a BJP legislature party meeting to discuss on the upcoming Budget session. “From tomorrow our state’s budget session will begin. Chaired a BJP legislature party meeting today to discuss on the upcoming budget session,” he tweeted.

On the opening day, Home Minister Bamang Felix will introduce the ‘Arunachal Pradesh Properties (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Bill, 2020’.

Among other business, the House will also take up a short duration discussion regarding ‘no party system for Panchayat election’ which is to be initiated by senior Congress member Ninong Ering.
