A 23-year-old student studying in UK who returned on March 21 was found to be COVID-19 positive. The samples were being sent for further investigation.

The woman belongs to Thangmeiband, Imphal West. She was studying in UK and had arrived at Delhi and then Kolkata on March 19 before she arrived at Imphal on March 21.

She is now undergoing treatment at JNIMS. According to a report of JNIMS, she was tested on March 23 and the report of her being positive was prepared by JNIMS on March 24.

Officials said she had come back to India on March 19 and was joined by her brother at Kolkata and arrived at Imphal on March 21. All her family members are now quarantined.

The test is a serological test. A nucleic acid test which is done outside the state will also be done.

An official statement issued by K Rajo, Director Health Services said one 23-year-old Manipur person returning from UK (England) has tested positive on March 24 morning. She belongs to Thangmeiband area of Imphal West.

She is under care and treatment at JNIMS Isolation Ward. Tracing of her contacts is important and anyone who came in contact with this person are asked to inform the Director of Health Services, Manipur and start self-isolation immediately, until further instructions.
