A suspected Coronavirus positive person hailing from Assam, who had fled quarantine in Kerala, was caught from the Guwahati-bound Kanchenjunga Express at New Bongaigaon railway station in Assam on March 18 night.

Northeast Frontier Railway spokesperson Nripen Bhattacharya said that the person, who hails from Morigaon district of Assam, was placed in quarantine in Kozhikode in Kerala as a suspected Coronavirus positive case. He had, however, fled from there and Kerala Police had got in touch with Morigaon Police to nab him.

The police forces of both the states, along with Railway authorities, tracked the person using latest technology and he was finally caught at New Bongaigaon railway station last night.

Bhattacharya said, “The person has been placed in quarantine in Bongaigaon now. As of now, we don’t know if he is a positive or negative case. The tests are being done.”

No confirmed case of Coronavirus has been reported in the Northeast so far.
