Woman arrested in Mizoram for hiding travel history

A woman was arrested in Mizoram for reportedly hiding her travel history which came to light after she revealed it in a Facebook post.

Mizoram Inspector General of Police John Neihlaia said the incident came to light recently when the women revealed her ‘crime’ in a Facebook post.

During investigation, it was found that the woman, aged about 33, belonged to a locality in Aizawl, he said.

She returned from Macau and landed in Lengpui airport on March 10.

She lied to the authority at Lengpui airport claiming that she returned from Kolkata, Neihlaia said.

She was arrested on Tuesday and booked under section 270/336/505 (1) (b) of the IPC.

Neihlaiha also said that a person, who was spreading fake news in the name of chief secretary, has also been arrested recently and was booked under Section 66 D of the IT Act and 505 (1) (b) of the IPC.
