Manipur government has given financial assistance of Rs 2000 to more than 35,000 people from the state who were stranded in other states due to the nationwide lockdown to contain spread of COVID-19.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh on April 30 informed through a Facebook post that Rs 7.07 crore was spent from the CM COVID-19 Relief Fund to help the stranded people. The fund was spent on 35357 people from the state who were stranded outside the state.
He said that so far Rs 11.33 crore was donated to the CM COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The chief minister further said it was due to the help extended by the people that the government could help the stranded people.
Manipur government had opened a website named tengbang.in where all stranded people could register themselves. All applicants were processed and verified by a team of officials.
