At least 7 people were charred alive and 6 others sustained severe burn injuries when lightning struck them in Saran and Bhojpur districts in Bihar on April 26.

A report from Chhapra, quoting civil chief medical officer-cum-civil surgeon Dr Madhaveswar Jha said, some people were working in the field when the lightning struck them. In the incident 6 people were burnt alive while 6 others sustained burn injuries.

He said that the bodies were brought at the Sadar Hospital where 6 other injured were undergoing treatment. The deceased were yet to be identified.

A report from Ara said that one Pushpa Kumari (18) was trapped in the lightning while working in her field and died due to the burn injuries. The body has been sent for post mortem.
