A woman, wife of a COVID-19 patient from Dhubri, was tested positive for COVID-19 on April 14, taking the tally in Assam to 32.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, confirming the latest case, tweeted: “Alert – A woman from Dhubri has tested #COVID positive. She is wife of a #COVID19 positive person who is connected both with #NizamuddinMarkaz, and Athgaon Kabristan congregation in Guwahati.”

This is the fourth case of COVID-19 in Dhubri district, with all cases linked to Nizamuddin area of Delhi.

Out of the 32 cases in Assam, 31 are linked to Nizamuddin area.

Earlier, Sarma had pointed that the Athgaon Masjid in the heart of Guwahati city was emerging as the hotspot of Novel Coronavirus infection in the state, with four cases so far linked to an event at the mosque, which was also attended by Nizamuddin Markaz returnees.

Out of the four positive cases, including the one detected on April 14, linked to Athgaon Masjid, two are directly associated with the Tablighi Jamaat event at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi last month.

One of the 32 COVID-19 patients in the state has succumbed to the infection so far.
