Nagaland Police has arrested one person in connection with a cyber crime in Dimapur.
According to the police, a case has been registered in Diphupar Police Station in Dimapur based on a suo moto FIR. The police identified the individual as Heveto Awomi of Nihoto Village of Dimapur district.
It was alleged that the person has shared a video clip which reportedly showed some “non-local individuals being physically screened by a car tape.”
The Nagaland Police on April 17 issued an advisory regarding the responsibilities every social media user and administrator should take amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
Explaining the advisory, the Nagaland Police said that a lot of fake news, misinformation and hate speech messages are being circulated on instant messaging platforms, like WhatsApp and others. The advisory urged all citizens to not “post, share, forward, disseminate, any message, content, pictures or photos, videos anything that could promote enmity on grounds of tribe, religion, nationality, race, language and other grounds of discrimination or disrupt public order, decency and morality.”
If such acts are committed, the law enforcement agency will take stern action against such perpetrators under relevant section of IPC, IT Act, CrPC and EDA Act, it added.
