Former deputy chief minister of Manipur, L Chandramani Singh breathed his last late night on April 4 at a hospital in Imphal. He was 86.

Singh reportedly experienced a stroke.

After joining politics in 1972, he served as deputy chief minister twice, speaker and minister.

He served as President Manipur People’s Party and also served as office bearers of Congress and Manipur State Congress Party.

A resident of Patsoi Part (IV) Imphal West, he also authored three books.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh and other leaders have condoled the death of the senior politician. “Saddened by the sudden demise of former Dy CM of Manipur and veteran politician Dr L Chandramani Singh. It is a great loss to the state and the nation. May his soul rest in peace in the Heavenly abode. I share the grief of the bereaved family,” the chief minister tweeted.
