Assam COVID tally rises to 682 with 134 new cases

Assam recorded three-digit rise in new COVID-19 positive cases for the second day on May 26 with 134 cases detected so far, pushing the overall tally to 682.

State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed of the new cases through Twitter.

Golaghat district recorded highest number of new cases for the second consecutive day with 54 cases confirmed on May 26, after 59 were found on May 25.

Among the new cases, 22 are from Kamrup (metro), eight each are from Goalpara, Nagaon and Morigaon, seven each from Hojai and Karimganj, three from Guwahati and Darrang, five from Lakhimpur, and two from Karbi Anglong and Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

One case each has been detected from Dhubri, Hailakandi, Udalguri, Kamrup and MMC Hospital at Guwahati.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 682, after the state witnessed the biggest-yet single day spike of 156 on May 25.

The number of active cases now is 613, while 62 have recovered and four have died so far.
