Assam on May 5 got its seventh laboratory accredited for testing COVID-19.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, has given permission to Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh for testing SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that with the accreditation of AMC, Dibrugarh, the state now has 7 labs which will further bolster the testing capabilities of the state.
“I am pleased to share that @ICMRDELHI has recognized Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh as an accredited lab for testing #COVID19. This bolsters our capabilities as the total number of labs now goes up to seven,” he tweeted.
Assam had COVID-19 testing labs at Gauhati Medical College in Guwahati; Regional Medical Research Center in Dibrugarh; Jorhat Medical College in Jorhat; Silchar Medical College in Silchar; Fakkhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College in Barpeta and Tezpur Medical College in Tezpur.
All the seven labs in Assam use the Real-Time RT-PCR testing category.
