Assam Startup - The Nest

The Assam government has set up a special cell at ‘Assam Startup – The Nest’ to guide, help and mentor enterprising youth coming back to Assam from different states.

Informing this in Guwahati on May 6, state Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “The interested enterprising youth will be allowed to register at the digital platform and will be given mentoring by IIM, Calcutta, and financial grant of up to Rs 50 lakh to the selected startups.”

The Industries and Commerce department is going to sign an MoU with Indian Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Silicon Valley, US, to leverage the startups in Assam so that they can have global access to the startup ecosystem, he said.

The minister added that the department is also going to organize a joint conclave in partnership with Microsoft on startup after the lockdown is over.

He maintained that though a section of youth may return to the state post-lockdown due to job loss, they would be skilled manpower and the state government will devise plans to engage them in various sectors.
