Commercial air connectivity between Guwahati and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh was restored on May 28 with Alliance Air restarting its services which was stopped due to the nationwide lockdown amid COVID-19 outbreak.
An ATR-72 flight, operated by Alliance Air, landed at the Pasighat airport on May 28 morning from Kolkata-Guwahati-Tezpur. Reports said that there were just two passengers along with two crew members.
The last flight from Pasighat airport took off on March 23 before the lockdown was announced.
On May 28, East Siang district Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh and Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan Singh were present at the airport to ensure that COVID-19 SOPs are maintained by the officers and security personnel on duty.
Speaking to media, DC Singh informed that details of the passengers were duly recorded and screened on arrival and later they were sent for quarantine. No relatives or friends of the passengers were allowed to visit the airport area.
