A Tripura States Rifles Jawan (TSR), who had fled from a quarantine centre, was found hanging from a tree in a rubber plantation at Tarapada village under Bisramganj Police station in Tripura on May 22.

According to police, Swapon Tripura, a constable of 11 Battalion, TSR had escaped from a departmental quarantine centre a few days ago.

Krishnendu Chakraborty, SP, Sepahijala said the jawan was absent without leave some days back. When he returned, his department put him under quarantine at Pathaliaghat on May 14. However, he escaped from there.

The owner of the rubber plantation, who was collecting latex in the early morning on May 22 found the jawan’s naked body hanging from a tree.

On his information, a team of police rushed to the spot. Police have recovered the body and registered a case.
