A woman working at the residence of the first COVID-19 patient in Shillong, tested positive for COVID-19 on May 9. With this, the number of active cases in Meghalaya went up to two, after 10 others recovered from the disease and the first patient died.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was one of the 181 primary contacts of the first COVID-19 patient in Meghalaya.

“This newly infected person happens to be from the same source, that is, from the first patient who is now deceased. She happens to be a maid servant, and had undergone home quarantine since April 14,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters in his daily briefing.

He informed that the patient has been shifted to the COVID-19 centre at Shillong Civil Hospital and is in a “stable condition”.
