Nagaland reported yet another COVID-19 case on May 26 taking the total number of cases in the state to four – excluding the patient from Dimapur who was detected COVID-19 positive after his admission at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati.
Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton on May 26 informed that a person returning to the state from Chennai tested positive.
“As Nagaland detects its 4th positive case of coronavirus, I want to assure that the govt is monitoring the situation closely and the things are in control. The returnee, like the others, was a returnee from Chennai,” he tweeted.
Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom informed that the person was tested positive in Kohima. “Another returnee from Chennai has been tested COVID19 positive at Kohima. With this, we have 4 active cases. Contact tracing are being activated,” he tweeted.
Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton urged the people of the state to not panic. He said that the government is doing its part to provide support to the people. “I urge people to not panic in the midst of the emerging positive cases of coronavirus in Nagaland. The government is doing its part, and with the support of our people, we can overcome this together. Let’s keep following the issued guidelines,” he added.
Yanthungo Patton also appealed to the people to cooperate with the frontline warriors. “I appeal to the people to cooperate with our frontline warriors who are tirelessly working for us in this crisis. Let’s not allow the virus to be a reason for us to discriminate against each other or involve in stigmatization. Rather, let’s be kind to each other,” he tweeted.
Earlier, two persons from Dimapur and one from Kohima were tested positive after their return from Chennai.
