A fresh case of COVID-19 was reported from Kokrajhar district in Assam taking the total tally to 44 in the state on May 5.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the patient had a travel history to Cooch Behar in West Bengal. “One person from Kokrajhar dist, with a travel history of Cooch Behar in West Bengal, has tested positive for #COVID19. Total #COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 44,” the minister tweeted.

Earlier in the day, a case was reported from Goalpara.

With this, the total number of active cases in Assam stands at 11 while 32 were discharged from the hospitals after they recovered from the disease. One of the patients succumbed to COVID-19 related complications.
