One of the most successful local players for NorthEast United FC, Redeem Tlang announced his departure from the club on May 31.
Redeem Tlang, who was part of the Guwahati-based Indian Super League (ISL) side in the inaugural edition of the league and in the last two seasons, said that he is grateful to the coaches, teammates and non-coaching staff at NEUFC for the happy memories. “It has been a wonderful two years with the #NEUFC family. I will be ever grateful to my coaches, teammates and non-coaching staff for the happy memories. I was able to learn a lot during the past two years with the Highlanders,” he said.
A Shillong Lajong product, Redeem Tlang was loaned to NorthEast United in the inaugural edition of Indian Super League season. Later in 2018-19, Redeem joined the Highlanders on a permanent transfer and scored his first goal in the ISL against Bengaluru FC in a 2-1 win in the first leg of the semi-finals at Guwahati. He was a regular during the season, making 19 appearances for the Highlanders.
Last season, Redeem scored 4 goals for the highlanders in 16 appearances for the club.
On May 31, Redeem Tlang remembered his performance during the 2018-19 semi final first leg where he scored in Guwahati. “…able to be part of the historic squad and represent NEUFC in the semis during the 2018-19 season will be the best memory of many, which will be in my heart forever. As the journey goes on, it’s time to bid farewell to the NEUFC family. But wherever I go and whatever lies ahead for me, I will always be from the Northeast!” the winger from Shillong said.
He thanked the NEUFC fans and especially the Highlander Brigade for supporting him and the team during the ups and downs.
Reports said that Redeem Tlang will be joining FC Goa for the next season.
