Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on May 13 apologized to the students of the state who had arrived from Rajasthan amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We as a government we apologize and from now on there will be no communication gap,” he told reporters in his daily briefing.
He said that from now on, the government will ensure that there will be no such delay.
On Tuesday, 24 students from Rajasthan who reached the capital Shillong were made to wait inside a bus for more than five hours before they were allowed to go home.
The students had reached Polo at around 5:30 am and they were allowed to go home only at around 11 am.
There were 33 students in all – nine were from Garo Hills while 24 from Shillong.
“These students had arrived in the state by a transport provided by the institute they were studying in Kota (Rajasthan) to prepare for NEET,” Tynsong said.
He said the students who had started their journey on May 9 reached Byrnihat on May 11 but had to go and drop the nine students from Garo Hills region.
