In an apparent case of road rage and intolerance, a vegetable vendor was allegedly beaten to death by a group of men after his bicycle hit their car near Hajo in Assam on May 24.

The vegetable vendor was identified as Sanatan Deka. The incident took place at Monahkuchi village, when the vendor was returning home after selling vegetables.

Reports said that the car was driven by one Faizur Hoque who was accompanied by four others. After their car was allegedly hit by the bicycle, they engaged in an argument with the vegetable vendor. In a fit of rage, they then started beating Deka.

Police said that critically-injured Deka was later taken to a hospital in Hajo by locals. But he succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.
