Assam on June 6 reported 230 fresh cases of COVID-19, taking the overall tally in the state to 2473 cases.

The state now has 1878 active cases with 588 patients discharged from the hospitals after they recovered from the disease.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that among the new cases, 44 were from Dhubri, 40 from Hojai and 22 were from Darrang districts.

Sarma also informed that 79 patients were released from the hospitals on June 6.

The state has been recording spike in COVID-19 numbers with more than 700 new cases detected over the last three days.
