Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam on June 16 launched a public contact rally in order to reach out to 50 lakh families in the state with achievement of its government both at the centre and the state.

Assam state President Ranjit Kumar Dass on June 16 launched the campaign from the West Gauhati Constituency as he visited families in the area and handed them a letter signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi detailing work done by his government in one year.

Similarly, a letter signed by Sarbananda Sonowal which lists achievements of his four-year-old government in the state was also handed over to each family in the area.

“This is an effort by the party to reach at the doorstep of people whom we have served and apprise them of the work done by BJP both at the centre and the state,” Ranjit Kumar Dass, Assam state BJP chief said.

The public contact rallies will continue till June 30 as all MLAs, including Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, will launch the campaign from various assembly segments in the state.

Under the public contact programme, two workers of the party at booth level adhering to social distancing norms will visit each family and hand them a signed letter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi listing achievements of his one-year old government. Alongside that a booklet which will contain the works done by the four-year-old BJP-led government in Assam will also be given to each family.
