A 53-year-old woman, who had recently returned from Delhi, died of COVID-19 complications at Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Silchar on June 12.
Official sources said that the woman was a resident of Bakrihower Part I under Algapur revenue circle of Hailakandi district and had returned recently from Delhi along with her son, who is a cancer patient.
They were under home quarantine after return and were admitted at the SMCH on June 6 when both of them tested positive for the virus.
Das died at the hospital on June 12 morning, while her son is still undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
She is the second casualty from Hailakandi district.
Altogether 3,498 COVID-19 positive patients have been detected in the state so far, out of which 1,584 have recovered.
