Fairytales do happen in real life, by dint of hard work and determination. In a similar fashion, Kekdam Lingo, a 28-year-old constable, is all set to become a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Arunachal Pradesh after he cleared Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE) and qualified for the Arunachal Pradesh Police Service at entry grade.

Kekdam, who hails from Pokto village in West Siang district, has been serving as a constable with Delhi Police since 2016 and posted at Geeta Colony Police station.

“I do not know how to react to the news. I still cannot believe this. I am so happy. I was always determined to do that. My father was unhappy when I joined as a constable. He wanted me to be an officer,” an elated Kekdam, son of a church caretaker, told The News Mill.

Kekdam completed his postgraduate degree in geography from Rajiv Gandhi University in Itanagar in 2015 and joined the constable job to support the family and especially help his younger brother to continue his studies.

“When we got the news, my father was asking me to check it once again if it’s really correct. And mom started to cry,” he added.

Working as a constable and staying in a barrack never deterred Kekdam from his goal. A determined, patient and tolerant youth, he has also learnt to work smartly with his stint with Delhi Police.

“My stint with Delhi Police has been a great learning experience. It has taught me to work hard and made me determined. I have seen the hardship. It has completely changed my way of seeing things in life,” Kekdam told The News Mill.

Apart from Kekdam Lingo, Borang Saroh, a nurse and mother of five, has qualified for the post of District Food And Civil Supplies Officer (DFCSO) and Api Nungnu, a contractual staff nurse from Daporijo has earned her place in the APCS entry grade, ranking 13th.
