UK records highest daily COVID-related death toll since March

Nine new COVID-19 positive cases were recorded on June 14 in Manipur. The total number of positive cases in the state went up to 458 with 367 of them active cases.

Out of the nine fresh cases, four were tested in VRDL of RIMS and five in JNIMS.

Elderly persons, especially those with pre-existing health conditions, are more vulnerable to the complications of COVID-19, said Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Spokesperson Health department, Manipur.

“Nearly 8.6 per cent of the population is above 60 years. They need special care and protection,” the spokesperson said.

People, who have been infected with COVID-19 or exposed to the infection, should not go near them without appropriate masks or without sanitizing, he said.

The Out Reach Team of the Health department has been visiting Old Age Homes at Mongsangei , Phayeng, Bashikhong, Kongba, Wangbal , Heirok, Kumbi and Thongjao to meet the residents, he added.
