Manipur on June 20 reported 96 fresh COVID-19 positive cases, taking the overall tally in the state to 777 in the state.

In the last 24 hours, 64 males and 32 females were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases from the VRDLs of RIMS (46) and JNIMS (50). Of these, 46 were tested positive at RIMS while 50 others were tested positive at JNIMS.

Among the fresh cases, 31 were from Tamenglong, 22 from Kangpokpi, 13 from Bishnupur, 12 from Senapati, six from Kamjong, five from Kakching, four from Ukhrul, two from Imphal East, and one from Tengnoupal districts.

Officials said that all the fresh cases were from among people who returned to the state after the nationwide lockdown was eased to allow people to travel between states. The patients were being shifted to the COVID Care Facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

With the detection of the new cases on June 20, the total number of active cases in the state went up to 545.

On June 20, 14 persons were discharged from JNIMS and RIMS after they were found COVID-19 free in subsequent RT-PCR tests. The total number of recovered cases is 232.
