Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on June 12 said the state needs to come back to normalcy in a proper manner while reviewing the prevailing health challenge being faced globally, including in the state.
“We need to come back to normalcy in a proper manner. In the process, the challenges and the risks will go up but we have to take all precautionary measures to minimize the risks,” Sangma said in his video conference with deputy commissioners across the state.
He also informed the officials on measures being taken to improve health infrastructure in the state.
“We have planned a way forward with focus on behavioural change by ensuring that a system is in place to monitor and take care of the elderly, persons with different health conditions, and children,” he said.
“As government, we are firm that our health infrastructure has to be strengthened. And our focus will remain towards building necessary infrastructure, including better facilities for the medical staff,” the chief minister further added.
“The COVID-19 situation has shown us that technology can play a key role in improving governance. Change of mindset and investment in e-office is crucial,” Sangma tweeted after the virtual interaction with Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jitendra Singh.
