The number of recovered persons from COVID-19 in Assam went up to 509 on June 5, while the overall case tally touched 2243.

On June 5, Assam recorded 128 new cases of COVID-19, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed.

Altogether 50 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged from different hospitals of the state during the day. They were discharged after testing negative twice for the infection.

Among the new cases, 37 were reported from Dhubri, 24 from Dima Hasao and 13 from Darrang.

The number of active cases in the state now stands at 1727, while four patients have died so far.

Assam had witnessed spike in COVID-19 cases over the last two days, with more than 550 cases detected.
