Assam Cricket Association starts rural infrastructure development

Following a long break due to the lockdown, Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has started its work to build infrastructure across the state, especially in the rural areas. On June 14, the office bearers of ACA, led by its secretary Devajit Saikia, visited Nalbari.

Earlier on June 10, ACA started its work to develop cricket infrastructure at Parade Ground at Amingaon, on the outskirts of Guwahati.

“We are dedicated to developing the infrastructure in the state ever since we took over the charge. We must provide the basic facilities for the youngsters who are willing to play cricket. Only then, we can expect to produce quality players. I believe we have tremendous talents in the rural areas and mofussil towns. Let them also play in good pitches,” said ACA secretary Devajit Saikia.

On June 14, the ACA office bearers met the members of Nalbari Sports Association (NSA) and visited a site with its president Ashok Sarma for creating cricket infrastructure.

The ACA also recently tied up with the Kamrup district administration to utilise a portion of the Parade Ground at Amingaon to develop into a proper cricket ground with all necessary facilities for hosting cricket matches.

As a part of such an initiative, ACA has started development of the ground and also construction of a cricket pavilion in the said venue.

The construction work was scheduled to start in March. However, due to the lock down, it could not be started.

The ACA has also undertaken the process of acquiring land at Nagaon and Tinsukia to construct cricket grounds with proper facilities in these areas very soon.
