Sikkim registered five fresh cases of COVID-19 on June 14, after which the tally has risen to 63, a top health department official said.
“On June 13, we had two recoveries, after which the total number of COVID-19 cases in Sikkim had been 58. But, today five more people have tested positive,” said Pempa Tshering Bhutia, director general and secretary health in a press conference in Gangtok on June 14.
Out of these, three were from West district and two from East district in Sikkim.
Drivers of 12 buses in which the sick returnees had travelled have been tracked and their samples have been sent for testing and the reports are awaited, he said.
“A total of 190 frontline health workers, police, staff of sub-divisional magistrate office, serving on state borders are also being tested for COVID-19 to keep them on the safe side,” he informed.
Sikkim is taking all measures to prevent community spread of novel coronavirus with people’s cooperation.
