Fifteen people were tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on July 9, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 651.

Manipur now has reported 1,450 COVID-19 cases.

In the past 24 hours, six persons were released from the COVID Care Centres after they recovered from the disease. The number of total recovered persons in the state now stands at 799.

Till now, as many as 55.1 per cent of the total COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease in the state.

Informing about the new cases, Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and Spokesperson Health department said that in the past 24 hours, 5 males and 10 females were tested positive for the disease in the state.

Mangang informed that the cases were detected from VRDLs at RIMS, JNIMS and Testing Centre at District Hospital, Jiribam.

The new patients belonged to Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Jiribam and Tamenglong districts. They will be shifted to respective COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the official added.

The spokesperson further informed that in the past 24 hours, six persons were discharged from COVID Care Centres of Meitram, Ukhrul and Kasom Khullen after they were found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR test.
