Adil Hussain

Actor Adil Hussain has been honoured with the Outstanding Achievement award at the Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival 2020 for his ‘incredible contribution to global cinema’.

The Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) and Birmingham Indian Film Festival (BIFF), together make up Europe’s largest Indian film festival.

“Conception, pre-production, shooting, post-production, showcasing platforms, reviewers, critics and finally the audiences – in these stages, I play but one of the roles as an actor. I joyously accept this kind recognition by the outstanding team of the London Indian Film Festival who have very diligently and carefully curated independent films from the Indian subcontinent for the last 10 years. I also, humbly, share this award with my acting teachers and friends who always believed in me,” Adil said after the announcement.

Over the last 10 years the LIFF and BIFF have garnered a reputation of presenting a cutting-edge selection of the very best new independent cinema from the Indian subcontinent and its worldwide diaspora. This offering includes dramatic features, documentaries and short films.

Along with Adil, Freida Pinto and Vidya Balan too have been honoured with the Outstanding Achievement award.

Actor Shabana Azmi and director Deepa Mehta have been honoured with Icon Award in 2020 edition.

This year, LIFF and BIFF joined forces to offer an online festival, ‘Love LIFF at Home’, a unique showcase of films and ‘In Conversation’ interviews by leading South Asian actors, directors and filmmakers.

Due to the popular demand of the online viewers, the organizers have decided to extend ‘Love LIFF at Home’ till August 19.
