Assam on July 1 reported 548 fresh cases of COVID-19 with Guwahati accounting for 378 of the cases.
The total number of cases in the state now stands at 8955.
State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about the new cases in a tweet late in the night on July 1.
Guwahati has been placed under total lockdown since June 28 midnight for next 14 days to check spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, 184 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals during the day, taking the number of recovered patients to 5831. The death toll remained at 12.
