A staff member, working at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Manipur, has tested positive for COVID-19 on July 25. Two family members of Health minister L Jayantakumar also tested positive for the virus.

Officials on July 26 said that a number of people working in the CM’s secretariat, along with several media persons, will now be tested for the virus. The person was working at the COVID-19 Common Control Room at the CM Secretariat.

As many as 59 persons were tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, an official said on July 26.

The positive patients were shifted to COVID care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place, the official added.

In the past 24 hours, one person was discharged from COVID Care Centre of Thoubal after he was found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR test.

With the detection of the new cases, the total number of reported cases in Manipur now stands at 2235 while 714 of them are active cases. As many as 1521 patients recovered from the disease and were released from the COVID Care Centres and hospitals.
