Three people died of COVID-19 related complications in Manipur on July 30, increasing the number of deceased due to the disease to four in the state.

The three patients – aged 47, 48 and 60 – were from Leimakhong of Kangpokpi district, Langol of Imphal West and Moijing from Thoubal district. They expired at RIMS and JNIMS due to co-morbid health conditions and COVID-19, officials said on July 30.

Officials added that among the four deaths reported in the state, three had history of kidney and other ailments.

Manipur has reported 2505 positive cases of COVID-19 while 829 of them are still active. As many as 1672 patients have recovered from the disease in the state.

In the past 24 hours, 47 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected. Among them, 18 were security personnel.

All the positive patients were shifted to COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place, an official said.

In the past 24 hours, 19 persons were discharged from the COVID Care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free through RT-PCR test.

Manipur is undergoing a total lockdown which was imposed on July 23 to contain the spread of the virus.
