Two more persons lost their life in Assam due to COVID-19 related complications as the death toll due to the disease climbed to 24 in the state on July 9.

Two patients admitted at COVID ICU at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati died in the morning on July 9.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed in a tweet: “Very sad to inform that 2 more COVID-19 positive patients – Prosnna Kumar Haloi (70) of Beltola, Guwahati and Ramsingh Hanse (56) of Karbi Anglong, admitted in GMCH COVID ICU succumbed to their critical infections this morning. Both were on invasive ventilation.”

Six deaths were reported in the state due to COVID-19 on July 8, while two were reported the day before.

The overall death figure in the state has now reached 24.

Assam now has recorded 14,032 COVID-19 cases out of which 8,726 have recovered so far.
