Twenty positive cases of COVID-19 came to light in Manipur in the past 24 hours, an official said on July 19.

Health department spokesperson Khoirom Sasheekumar informed that 14 males and six females were reported positive in the state in the past 24 hours at VRDLs of RIMS, JNIMS and DHs of Tamenglong, Thoubal and Mobile Team at Imphal East.

The patients belong to Bishnupur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Tamenglong, Thoubal, Senapati and Ukhrul districts. The official added that the patients were being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

Sasheekumar informed that all except two persons, one each from Imphal East and Thoubal districts, were returnees from other states. All the necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The health official also informed that in the past 24 hours, 53 persons were discharged from COVID Care Centres after they were found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR tests.

With the detection of the fresh cases, the total number of reported cases in the state went up to 1911. Among these, 676 are active cases while 1235 others recovered from the disease.
