Nagaland on August 9 recorded 93 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 2,781.

According to Nagaland Principal Secretary for Home, Abhijit Sinha, out of the 93 new cases, 62 were detected in Dimapur, 20 in Kohima, eight in Peren, two in Mon and one in Zunheboto.

“Contact tracing is fully put in force and all primary contacts are kept under self isolation to avoid further transmission,” he tweeted.

Out of the 2781 positive cases, 1866 are active while the state reported eight deaths.

Among the 1866 active cases, only one patient is showing mild symptoms while two others are “moderate”. As many as 1863 patients are asymptomatic.

“The positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Active surveillance and contact tracing is also in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection,” the official added.
