Manipur on August 4 reported 98 new COVID-19 cases with 34 of them among Central Armed Police Force. Of the 64 civilians tested positive, only one had a travel history to other states while the others were infected within the state.

The northeast state, which is under total lockdown to contain the spread of the virus, has now detected a total of 3018 cases out of which 1197 are still active.

Lockdown continued to be strictly regulated and people were remaining indoors on August 4. Many localities were blocked and streets were completely deserted. Only medical stores were allowed to open.

As many as 1814 patients recovered from the disease in the state while seven patients succumbed to infections related to COVID-19 and other co-morbid conditions.

Health department spokesperson Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said that in the past 24 hours, 64 persons from general population and 34 persons from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

The positive cases were from Imphal West (25), Thoubal (23), Kakching (2), Chandel (5), Tamenglong (1) and Imphal East (8) districts. Only one person from Tamenglong is a returnee from other state. All the 63 are locals without any significant travel history.

They were shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place.

In the past 24 hours, 48 persons were discharged from COVID care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR test.
