The autumn session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will be held from August 31 with strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place, including testing all MLAs, assembly staff and journalists for COVID-19.

The four-day session will have presence of 50% members inside the house at a given point of time and only those ministers whose departments are being discussed will be inside the house.

The other ministers will follow the proceedings from their office chambers in the assembly premise, while the MLAs will also keep tab of the happenings inside the House from the central hall or their legislative party rooms in the assembly.

In case of officials and journalists also, only limited number will be allowed inside the house at a given point of time, while no visitors will be allowed for this session.

COVID-19 test has been conducted for all assembly staff, journalists and even MLAs at a special screening centre at the premise over the last three days.

At least three MLAs have been found COVID-19 positive in the screening, besides several staff of assembly and journalists.
