Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on August 5 made aerial survey of flood-hit areas and directed authorities concerned to ensure testing of COVID-19 cases in relief centres.

After the survey, Kumar landed at Darbhanga airport and went straight to relief centre opened at a school in Makhnahi. He talked to those lodged in the centre and took stock of the arrangements for foods and other facilities for the inmates.
Kumar also directed the authorities concerned to ensure quality of food and medical facilities for them.
Later, he directed to pay ex-gratia to the immediate family of those killed in boat accidents in Khagaria, Saharsa and Darbhanga districts.
He said that the mishaps were too tragic. He asked the concerned authorities to immediately pay the ex-gratia amount to the affected people.
Meanwhile, reports said that 27 people died of floods and boat accidents in the past 24 hours in the state.
According to the reports, nine people were washed away in the water of river Ganga in Khagaria district, six in flood water in Saran district, five in East Champaran, three in Saharsa and two each in Darbhanga and Madhepura.
