Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated Level – I Trauma Care Centre at RIMS, Imphal through video conferencing at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on August 31.

Singh stated that the primary objective of the dedicated trauma centre is to bring down preventable deaths due to road accidents in the state.

He appreciated the RIMS authorities and doctors for developing such Trauma Care Centre in the state.

The trauma centre will have ICU, HCU, trolley beds, operation theatres, CT scan machines, dialysis unit among other facilities, he said.

The chief minister maintained that the state has highly qualified and experienced doctors and healthcare workers as compared to other states.

He highlighted that the government acknowledges the selfless services rendered by doctors, nurses and paramedical staffs during this pandemic.

He expressed his hope that the state would overcome the pandemic with such dedicated services of the healthcare workers.

He further emphasized that public awareness campaign would play an important role to combat the disease.

Director of RIMS, A Shanta said that the number of ICU beds have been increased to 30 and more than 20 ventilators have been installed with a back-up of another 30 ventilators in the Trauma Care Centre.

Two operation theatres are available with two mobile x-ray machines, he added. He appreciated the chief minister and the government for the support and co-operation in developing such trauma centre at RIMS.

The trauma care centre was constructed by Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) with an estimated cost of Rs 11.34 crore sanctioned by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It was constructed under capacity building for developing trauma care facilities on national highways.
