COVID-19 threat: Kohima DC orders sealing of 17 areas

As many as 17 areas in Kohima were ordered to be sealed to contain the spread of COVID-19 on August 16.

In an order issued by additional deputy commissioner of Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa has ordered sealing of 17 areas in the Nagaland capital in view of the detection of the COVID-19 positive cases in these locations.

According to official sources, the sealed areas are located at Pezielietsie Colony, Periezie Colony, Zienuobadze Colony, Keyake Colony, 4th Nagaland Armed Police at Thizama, Keziekie Colony, Kenuozou Colony, Upper Forest Colony, New Minister’s Hill, Old Minister’s Hill, New Police Reserve, IG Colony, Officer’s Hill, PR Hill, Lower PWD Colony, Upper Chandmari Colony and Upper Mehrulietsa (Para Medical) Colony.

On August 16, Nagaland reported 54 new COVID-19 positive cases taking the total number of reported cases in the state to 3394.

Nagaland Health and Family welfare S Pangnyu Phom informed that the new cases were detected after testing 599 suspected samples, of them 26 cases were from Kohima, 21 cases from Dimapur and seven cases from Zunheboto.

Necessary contact tracing have activated, he informed.
