India’s COVID-19 recovery rate on August 14 improved to 71.17 percent after 55,573 recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of cured/discharged past 17 lakh-mark, union health ministry said in its daily update.

According to the union health ministry data, 17,51,555 patients have so far recovered, exceeding the active number of cases by 10,89,960.

The active cases in the country now stand at 6,61,595.

Meanwhile, the death toll has increased to 48,040 after 1,007 people lost their lives to the pandemic since August 13.

The fatality rate across the nation has now further reduced to 1.95 percent , the government data added.

The overall infection tally increased to 24,61,190 so far , on August 14.

A total of 2,76,94,416 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as per the Indian Council of Medical Research till August 13.
