Highlighting his government’s achievement in all fields including electricity, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on August 22 made scathing remarks at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and said that there is no need of lantern (electoral symbol of RJD) any more in the state.
After inaugurating and laying foundation stone of various projects for Rs 4855.37 crore in power sector through video conferencing, Kumar compared the scenario of electricity at the time of his predecessor saying that only 700-megawatt electricity supplied was available in 2005 which at present was 5,932 megawatt.
Kumar said that his government achieved the target of electrifying every household in October 2018 and replaced every damaged wires by the end of 2019.
The CM said that all complaints related to electricity were being addressed through Public Complaint Redressal Rights Act and added that the consumers were now getting more subsidy on which the government was spending more than Rs 6,000 crores.
He further said that prepaid metres installation was in progress and it would solve several issues of the consumers. The prepaid metres would also check the misuse of electricity, he added.
The chief minister said that the farmers willing to get electricity connection for agricultural purposes were being provided with the same and as of now more than 2 lakh farmers have applied for the same.
